Prem Lahoty, of Calcutta, India, was elected to serve a two-year term
as a director of The International Association of Lions Clubs at the
association’s 83rd International Convention, held in Honolulu, Hawaii,
USA, June 19-23, 2000.
Past Director Lahoty is a businessman.
A Lions since 1972 and a member of the Calcutta Midtown Lions Club
since 1976, Past Director Lahoty has held many offices within the
association, including club president, district governor and cabinet
secretary. He has also served as multiple district Constitution and By-
Laws Committee chairman and multiple district Youth Exchange
chairman.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past Director Lahoty
has received numerous awards, including four International President
Certificates of Appreciation, the 100% District Governor award, four
International President’s Awards, an Extension Award and the
Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor granted by the
association to its members. He is also a Melvin Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lion activities, Past Director Lahoty is a member of
several community groups including Indian Red Cross, National
Association for the Blind and Marawari Relief Society.
Past Director Lahoty and his wife, Saveeta, have three children and
six grandchildren.
