K.G. Ramakrishna Murthy of Coimbatore, India, was elected to serve
a two-year term as a director of The International Association of Lions
Clubs at the association’s 89th International Convention, held in
Boston, Massachusetts, USA, June 30-July 4, 2006.
Past Director Murthy is an insurance consultant.
Amember of the Madras Metro East Lions Club and Lion since 1984,
Past Director Murthy has held many offices within the association,
including club president, region chair, cabinet secretary, council chair
and district governor. Additionally, he has served as district extension
chair, district leadership chair, multiple district SightFirst chair and
Area IMPACT Team Leader.
In recognition of his service to the association he has received
numerous awards, including the 100% District Governor’s Award,
Membership Growth Award, Extension Award, LCIF Chairperson’s
Certificate, 16 International President’s Certificates of Appreciation,
six International President’s Awards and six International President’s
Leadership Awards. Director Murthy is also a Progressive Melvin
Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Past Director Murthy is active in
numerous professional and community organizations. He is a life
patron of the YMCA and life member of the Association of Prevention
of Cruelty to Animals. He is a member of the Coimbatore Blood Donors
Association, Red Cross Society of India and Coimbatore Sri Ayyappa
Seva Sangh.
Past Director Murthy and his wife, R. Meera, a member of the
Coimbatore Melvin Jones Lions Club, have two children.
