Aruna Abhey Oswal from Gujrat, India, was elected to serve a two-
year term as a director of Lions Clubs International at the association’s
99th International
Convention held in Fukuoka, Japan, June 24 through 28, 2016.
A member of the Baroda Stadium Lions Club since 2014, and a Lion
since 1989, she has held many offices within the association,
including district governor, multiple coordinator CSF II, LCIF multiple
district coordinator, board appointee and vice chairperson of LCIF
Steering Committee.
In recognition of her service to the association, she has received
numerous awards, including the Friend of Humanity Award, two
Extension Awards, five International President’s Awards and the
Ambassador of Good Will Award, the highest honor the association
gives to its members. She is also a Humanitarian Partner and a
Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. She has been honored with the “Life
Time Achievement Award” by the Mother Teresa International
Committee and has received the Jain Ratna Award given by the Prime
Minister of India.
In addition to her Lions activities, Director Oswal is active in numerous
professional and community organizations, including the World
Council of Religion for Peace, the Loomba Foundation, Indian Council
for Human Relations and World Jain Confederation.
Director Oswal’s mentor, friend, philosopher, guide and inspirational
was the late Shri. Abhey kumar Oswal ji. Aruna Oswal has pledged to
fulfill his dream to serve humanity at every step in her journey of
Lionism and social service.
