Bishnu Bajoria was born at Bankura in West Bengal on 14th November 1945
and joined Lionism in 1976 as Charter Member of Lions Club of Bankura, then
in 322B. He became Club President in 1981-82 and District Governor of
undivided District 322C and Multiple Council Treasurer in 1988-89. He was
elected as International Director for 2008-10 in June 2008 and during 2009-10
he was appointed as Chairperson of Audit Committee and Vice Chairperson of
Membership Development Committee. He was a member of the Joint
Committee for restructuring of MERL as well as of the Working Group to help
implement the same.
He served twice as Multiple District Membership Chairman and as National
Coordinator Membership. He was among 16 senior Lions invited to participate
in the high level Membership Summit for ISAAME at Kathmandu in October
1996. He is widely known for his work in the field of Membership and his
monthly circulars on Membership Highlights have been very popular and
widely appreciated. He served as Editor of LION Magazine (India Edition) from
2010 to 2013. He is presently the Vice Chairman of Lions Quest in India
Foundation.
He has served on various committees at various International Conventions
and was a Faculty Member at the MERL Chairpersons Training Program at
Tunisia in 2005. He has been an important Faculty Member in the various
Regional Institutes and All India DG-VDG Elect Schools over the years. He
also served as a Group Leader for DGE Training Seminar at Chicago
Convention 2017. He has attended 28 International Conventions and 20
ISAAME Area Forums and was the Chairman of the Planning Committee for
the highly successful Area Forum held at Hyderabad in December 2009.
His numerous Lionistic Awards include the highest award Ambassador of
Goodwill besides numerous International President's Awards, International
Leadership Awards and Top 20 Leo Chairmen Award. He is a 38 Diamond
Progressive MJF and made major gifts of $50000 to CSF II and $30000 to
Campaign 100. He is also a 2nd Century Ambassador, a Life Member of the
Association and a member of the LCIF Heritage Club.
He published a book “My Journey in Lionism” which was launched by
International President Brian Sheehan on 23 December 2022 during his visit
to MD 322 and the first print was exhausted within 3 weeks. It received wide
appreciation from Lion leaders for its contents. The second reprint with
additional reading material was published in February 2023.
His family is in distributive trade in various sectors with branches in various
places of the country. His wife Indra is also an active Lion and 1 Diamond
PMJF and Life Member of the Association. They have 2 sons Amit and Vinay
and 4 grand children. Lion Bajoria's elder brother Late Lion Hari Bajoria was
also a very senior Lion being Past Council Secretary and recipient of the
highest award Ambassador of Goodwill.
